After
studying chemistry at UC Santa Barbara, winemaker Jonathan Keyes landed
his first winery job with California's ultimate boutique winery, Sine
Qua Non. That year the winery achieved 100 points with Jon working in
the cellar. He then traveled to Australia, learning the wine business
down under with Two Hands Winery in the Barossa Valley, before returning
to assume the position of Cellar Master at Napa Valley's Outpost Wines,
under the tutelage of 100-point winemaker Thomas Brown. Jonathan
partnered up with Samantha Sheehan, and her brother Trevor, to create
Poe Wines. We both wanted to start a label and shared the same vision
for what we wanted to craft, explains Samantha. We both loved the
single vineyards Pinots from Burgundy, and believed that single vineyard
California Pinot and Chardonnays could express brilliance as well.
