Made on the tiny island of Porquerolles, along France’s
Côte d’Azur, this is further proof of Provence’s rosé supremacy. This wine comes from Domaine de
la Courtade, a long-established estate not far from the island’s main port (and
the beach that lends it its name).
The name Alycastre was named after the fabled dragon Alycastre who, when eventually slain by a pilgrim, asked for the place where he died to be named after him with his dying breath. The winery has been organic since 1997 and the wine is made by the traditional “saignée “ method with grapes from 15-year-old vines.
A blend of ⅓ Mourvèdre, ⅓ Grenache, ⅓ Tibouren makes this wine the perfect summer wine with plenty of Provençal sunny fruit with an unexpected depth due to the Mourvèdre and Tibouren.
