Siduri Hirsch Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
following is about the 2011 vintage of the Hirsch:
Hirsch Vineyard is undeniably and deservedly one of California’s
most famous vineyards, Pinot
Noir or otherwise. It is a site, west of Cazadero, on the far
reaches of the Sonoma Coast. Located on a ridge top, it is generally above the
fog, and that allows it to ripen. At Siduri,
we’ve been purchasing Hirsch
Vineyard fruit since the 1995 vintage, getting fruit from the
oldest section of the vineyard. Sadly, 2011 was the last year for
most of the Old Vineyard, as a virus called leaf-roll was taking its toll on the vines.
Because of this virus, and the naturally
low yields of the site, we
only harvested 1.68 tons.
