2004 Black Bart Syrah - Stagecoach Vineyard approaches the Oakville appellation at its westernmost slopes. Climbing up the southern extent of the Pritchard Hill appellation, the vines ascend to almost 1800 feet. The single clusters on each shoot for the Black Bart Syrah were plucked from vines planted 1700 feet above sea level.
Winemaker Notes:
Rich purple-black hue; Aromas of violets, white pepper, dark spices, saffron and roasted sage, marry on the palate with sweet-smokey bacon fat, hazelnut, black cherry, and white chocolate; Smooth, velvety tannins weigh gracefully upon the mid-palate, finish lingers. Great with braised duck, peppered rabbit and roast boar!
