2008 Dancing Hares Mad Hatter Red Wine Napa
92pts (WE)An impressive wine from this St. Helena winery, with
the vineyard below Howell Mountain. It’s rich and classic, showing
ripe blackberry, blueberry, currant and earthy flavors, with
wonderfully thick, refined tannins. An elaborate, Cabernet that
should benefit from up to six years in the cellar. —S.H. Wine
Enthusiast September 2011
It is this care and attention to detail on the part of Andy
Erikson, David Abreu and Michel Rolland that keeps Dancing
Hares wine fresh and inviting and the business of a vintner so
interesting.
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine exhibits
rich vanilla character, along with dried cherries, raspberry, and
savory notes. The tannins are soft, while the mid-palate is
mouthwatering and juicy. The complex fruit character is enhanced by
flavors of dried sage, cardamom, and black tea. At this time the
wine softens and becomes more expressive with a light
decanting.
